CATERING |
Catering at HMP Wolds is provided by ARAMARK
Ltd, one of the largest service management organisations
in the world. The company was founded in the USA in 1959 and
has been operating in Britain since 1972. |

The catering department is required to provide meals 3 times
daily for prisoners and lunch and hospitality in the staff restaurant
from 5 days a week. The menu rotates on a four weekly basis
and is ordered via a weekly pre-select system with the food
then being delivered to the Units by a hot trolley system. |

Training Opportunities
Safety and hygiene are of paramount importance when working
with food, and at HMP Wolds we ensure all prisoners receive
a range of training opportunities. The Aramark staff provide
prisoners with vigorous training which is refreshed on a regular
basis. As a prisoner moves from one area to another he will
receive the appropriate training some examples of training include;
- Safe food handling
- Equipment use
- Safe knife drill
- Reporting of defects
- Reporting sickness and accidents
- Fire procedures
- Control of substances hazardous to health regulations
- Menu planning

In line with HMP Wolds commitment to providing prisoners with
training opportunities Aramark offers:
- NVQ's in Catering and Hospitality, this includes such
skills as
- Health & Hygiene (Basic) certification
- Aramark 5 star Hygiene certification
Diet
At HMP Wolds we run a preselect menu system, consisting of four
choices at lunch and five choices at dinner, in which all dietary,
ethnic and healthy option needs are catered for. We are also
tasked to provide special diets as prescribed by the Prison
doctor. |
