HMP Wolds are committed to providing the highest standards of healthcare to prisoners in their care. At HMP Wolds the healthcare is provided by Primecare Forensic Medical (PFM) with fully qualified team of dedicated staff.

PFM is an experienced, professional company specialising in healthcare services where security is required. PFM is dedicated to the task of bringing the values and methods of community-based healthcare to the secure setting - prisons, immigration centres, secure training centres and forensic settings.


Approach

PFM staff approach their work in prisons and secure settings with a professionalism and commitment that lays the foundations for improved services. All staff recognise the dignity of the individual. PFM employees are selected and trained to respect the human rights and needs of detainees or prisoners. All staff are security vetted and provided with thorough induction training.
 

The Healthcare Centre at HMP Wolds is staffed by a team is made up of qualified nurses and health care assistants.


A-Z of Healthcare Services

Acupuncture
Clinics are available to help treat or support a variety of symptoms and addictions. The acupuncture focuses on detoxification points in the ear and can be beneficial for conditions such as: drug alcohol and nicotine addiction, insomnia, dieting, relaxation, stress and pain relief.

Asthma
Clinic is nurse-led with the initial assessment carried out in conjunction with the doctor.

Blood testing

Is carried out at a weekly clinic, usually Mondays.

Counselling

Is delivered on a sessional/group basis two days a week. The Chaplaincy Department offers an excellent bereavement service plus a bereavement support group. Two members of staff are trained HIV/Hepatitis counsellors.

Diabetic

Clinic on demand.

Doctor's Surgery
Held daily, including weekends for emergencies.

Epilepsy
Clinic based on demand.

Exercise-on-prescription
In association with the Sports Centre Department. This course is aimed at those who don't take regular exercise.

Relaxation

Classes are available on a weekly basis.

Smoking Cessation
A clinic is available to those who wish to give up smoking. The clinic involves attending 4 sessions and incorporates nicorette patch supply to those attendees who need them.

Well Man Clinic
This service is directed at those men who do not see the doctor on a regular basis. Health screening advice is given and an annual health check is advised.
