The Sport Centre has a capacity of 60 prisoners; 30 in the Fitness
Room and 30 in the Sports Hall, having a staff team of 5 who supervise
and instruct the prisoners throughout their sessions.
Courses
We regularly run organised sports courses, which are integrated
into a weekly programme. Information is displayed on the Sports
Centre notice board and on each unit. Participating prisoners must
get clearance first before applying for a course.
- Community Sports Leader Award (CSLA)
- British Weight Lifting Association (BAWLA) - Introductory and
Leaders Awards
- Amateur Boxing Association (ABA) - Boxing Awards
- National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) -in sport and recreation
- First Aid
Introductory: Basketball, Volleyball, Badminton and Short-tennis
courses
Staff Activities
Staff are encouraged to make use of the
Sports Hall and numerous activities are laid on at lunch times for
staff use, including circuits, spinning and rackets.
Anyone wishing to use the Sports Centre must first complete the
centre induction programme and be passed medically fit.
